What is Alvesco Inhaler used for?
Alvesco Inhaler (ciclesonide inhalation) is used to manage asthma symptoms including coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. This works by reducing inflammation in the airways which helps to make it easier to breath. The symptoms of asthma can take time away from activities, work and socializing. It is recommended for children and adults 12 years of age and older. You begin to notice the effects within 24 hours but will not notice optimal results for a week or two. As this is a long term maintenance drug that takes a long time to provide relief, this cannot be used to relieve sudden asthma symptoms. You should have a fast acting option available with you. If you find you are using a quick relief inhaler too often and your asthma symptoms do not improve in two weeks, call your doctor or pharmacist for advice. This is stored at room temperature. This medication may weaken your immune system making you prone to illness.Alvesco Inhaler Information
How to use Alvesco Inhaler?
Your doctor ought to explain how to use the device when prescribing this medication. They may even provide a demonstration of the device, provide medical advice about side effects and allergic reactions. The product comes with an information leaflet that contains a diagram of how to operate the device. If you have any additional questions, clarify them before taking this medication as proficient use of this device will provide the most benefit.
When you first use the device, or if you haven’t used it in 10 days, you should prime it to ensure you get a proper dose. To prime the Alvesco Inhaler, point the inhaler away from you (avoiding the face) and discharge 3 sprays. No shaking is required.
If you happen to forget a dose, simply take it when you remember. If it’s nearly time for your next dose you can skip the mixed dose and continue your schedule. Rinse your mouth with water when you are finished your dose to prevent irritation and infection from residual medication.
Do not stop taking this unless instructed by your doctor as symptoms can return even if you feel better. Do not take a double dose to correct for one that has been missed. Taking more medication than what is recommended does not hasten treatment and can increase your risk of side effects.
Do not share this medication with others; even if they have similar symptoms. This may not benefit them and may cause harmful reactions.
If you experience any reactions and are allergic to ciclesonide or other steroid medications seek medical attention from a registered healthcare professional.
