What is Spiriva Respimat used for?
Spiriva Respimat (Tiotropium Bromide Monohydrate) is a medication that is used by adult patients with asthma to manage COPD (Chronic obstructive lung disease), bronchitis and emphysema. When used consistently and properly it can manage the shortness of breath, coughing and wheezing associated with lung diseases. These symptoms prevent you from engaging in activities such as driving, work, recreation and athletics. This is a long term once daily drug meant to treat and prevent symptoms and is not used to treat asthma attacks or breathing problems that are in progress. You may need a quick relief medication to deal with sudden symptoms. Your doctor may have prescribed this medication for a different condition. If this is the case, find out what this medication is supposed to treat. Do not share this medication with friends and family with similar symptoms. It may not provide any benefit and may result in unpleasant side effects. Pediatric use has results comparable to that observed in adults.Spiriva Respimat Inhaler Information
How to use Spiriva Respimat?
When your doctor prescribes this medication they may provide instructions and may have a demonstration. The manufacturer's packaging should also have a patient information pamphlet that illustrates its use. Using the device correctly is essential for getting the most benefit from the medication. Call your doctor or pharmacist if you require any clarification on this product.
When using this you will need to insert the cartridge into the device. Before using this in earnest, you will need to prime this device by activating the device and releasing a dose away from you. Ensure that you do not get respimat into your eyes.
You will have to do this four times total to prime the device. If you happen to miss a dose, simply ignore the missed dose and take the next one when scheduled.
Do not take a double dose within a 24 hour period as this will not accelerate treatment and may cause more severe/frequent side effects. Once you have used this for a total of three months you will have to dispose of the device and canister even if there is some medication leftover. This may contribute to acute narrow angle glaucoma.
