What is Ventolin Inhaler used for?
Ventolin Inhaler is a quick-relief drug used to treat or prevent bronchospasm and manage and prevent breathing problems such as shortness of breath and wheezing that are associated with asthma and COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). It can also be used to prevent symptoms of asthma from occurring during vigorous exercise. The symptoms and asthma and COPD can prevent you from getting the most out of work and leisure time and can make athletics overly strenuous. Ventolin is effective as it helps the airways open up by relaxing the muscles and makes breathing much easier. Unlike other drugs that act slowly, people with asthma can use this during acute asthma attacks to help manage them should they occur. If you have worsening trouble breathing, coughing, wheezing or paradoxical bronchospasm contact your doctor. This can be used in children four years of age or older. If your child is younger than 4 years your doctor may still prescribe this if it is necessary.Ventolin Inhaler Information
How to use Ventolin Inhaler?
Before taking this medication your doctor should instruct you how to use it and may even provide a demonstration. The product should also come with an instructional leaflet that explains how it is used. Your doses of ventolin HFA may vary based on your condition and the response to treatment. They may have to increase your dose based on your therapeutic plan.
It is important not to exceed or reduce the dose prescribed as it may affect treatment. A larger dose will not hasten improvement and a lower dose will delay treatment. This can be used to manage sudden asthma attacks but you should seek immediate medical attention if you are struggling to breathe or your asthma symptoms worsen. If you take Ventolin HFA and use other inhaled medications you should wait a minute before taking the next one.
Be sure to shake the canister well prior to using this. You should prime the device if you are using a new inhaler, have not used your inhaler in several days, or if you drop the device.
The inhaler is primed by removing the cap from the mouthpiece and shaking the inhaler well. Point the inhaler away from your face to avoid getting medication in your eyes. Spray the inhaler into the air away from you. Shake and repeat three times to finish.
