What is Veramyst Nasal Spray used for?
Veramyst Nasal Spray (Avamys Nasal Spray) is a corticosteroid used to manage seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis conditions including runny nose, sneezing, itching, and watery eyes. It works by reducing swelling (inflammation) in the nasal passages. This can be used for children two years of age or older, young children may need to reduce the dosage to 1 spray in each nostril. If this is used to treat a different medical condition, contact your doctor to find out what this is meant to treat. Do not share this with others, even if they have similar symptoms, this may not benefit them and may have adverse side effects.Veramyst Nasal Spray can take a few days to provide any benefit. If you do not see results in a week or more, contact your doctor for advice. This can reduce your immune system leaving you vulnerable to infection and sickness. Inform your doctor if you had a recent illness or infection or if a new one occurs.

How to use Veramyst Nasal Spray?
When you first take this medication, your doctor will likely describe how to use it and may even provide a demonstration. The product comes with a patient information leaflet that outlines how to use the medication.
When you use this for the first time, or if you haven’t used it seven days, you need to prime the spray. In order to prime, press the button six times or until a fine spray is discharged.
Be careful not to spray this in your eyes. Gently blow your nose prior to using the spray. Always shake well before use.
If you happen to miss a dose, simply take it once you remember. If it is nearly time for our next dose, skip the dose you missed and take the next one on schedule. Do not take a second dose to make up for the one you missed. Taking more than the recommended dose will not improve your condition and may result in more frequent or severe side effects.
Do not stop taking Veramyst Nasal Spray when you begin to feel better. Your allergy symptoms can return if you do not take this medication consistently. Use of allergy nasal sprays can result in glaucoma or cataracts, which you may need to discuss with your doctor. Report side effects and a complete list of allergic reactions should they occur.
