Use of Estrogel (Oestrogel)
If you are using this for the first time, follow the instructions for priming the pump
You should apply the medication exactly as your doctor directs, usually once daily, to clean, dry skin on your upper arm and shoulder region. Some brands may be applied to the arm from wrist to shoulder.
Ensure that you apply this medication according to the instructions on the label. Do not apply this medication to broken, irritated skin. Do not apply this medication to the breast, face, or around the vagina. Do not allow anyone else to apply this medication to you.
Treatment response and your medical condition determine the dosage. This medication should not be taken more often than prescribed or at a higher dose.
Ensure that the pump cap on the medication is replaced after each use. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after applying this medication to reduce the risk of accidental spread. To prevent others from touching the application site and being exposed to the drug, cover the application area with clothing (such as a long-sleeve shirt) after it has dried completely.
Before allowing others to touch the skin where the medication has been applied, wait at least 1 to 2 hours (depending on the brand). Wash the area of contact on someone's body with soap and water as soon as possible if they accidentally touch the gel (or the application area within 1 to 2 hours).
The drug should be allowed to be absorbed through your skin for at least 2 hours before showering/swimming.
The most effective way to get the most benefit from this medication is to take it regularly at the same time every day. Do not take extra doses as this may increase the risk of experiencing side effects or an adverse reaction.
Make sure not to get this medication in your eyes. Rinse your eyes with warm water if it comes in contact with your eyes. Inform your doctor if you experience any eye irritation.
Smoking or going near an open flame should be avoided until the gel has dried. Do not hesitate to contact your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens.
This is not known to increase your risk of developing breast cancer. You should still check for breast lumps on hormone replacement therapy. Talk to your doctor if you have a history of heart disease or blood clots as long term use may increase your risk of these conditions growing worse.
Store at room temperature away from children and animals when not in use.
