Use of Xifaxan
Depending on your medical condition and response to treatment, the dosage will vary.
Generally, this medication should be taken 3 times a day (every 8 hours) for 3 days to treat traveler's diarrhea. Dose for adults and children may be different.
Take this medication as directed by your doctor. Usually for 14 days, three times a day, with or without food in order to treat irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea.
Your healthcare professional may recommend taking this medication twice a day (every 12 hours) with or without food to prevent hepatic encephalopathy.
This antibiotic should be taken at evenly spaced intervals. To help you remember, take it at the same time(s) every day. If you miss a dose you can take it when you remember. You can skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next one.
In the event of traveler's diarrhea, the medication should be continued until the entire prescribed amount is used. If you stop the medication too early, you may experience a relapse.
When you still have diarrhea after one or two days, it is bloody or accompanied by a fever, tell your doctor. If the diarrhea does not improve or worsen, see your doctor.
Store tablets at room temperature away from children and animals when not in use.
