Use of Eliquis (Apixaban) Tablet
Patients with irregular heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation) or pulmonary embolism (PE) often use Eliquis Tablet to prevent blood clots and prevent strokes. Individuals who have undergone hip or knee replacement surgeries have a higher risk of getting clots and often receive Eliquis as well.
In some cases, you may need to take this medicine for a very long time, even for the rest of your life. It can be taken with or without food, and it is best to take them at the same time every day.
You should keep taking this even when you feel better. Stopping Eliquis treatment can cause blood clots to continue to form. Your doctor will advise you if it is appropriate to discontinue treatment.
Consult your doctor before stopping or changing the dose. Heart attacks, strokes, and thrombosis (blood clots within a blood vessel) are all more likely to occur if you take it. Change your lifestyle, such as not smoking, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and losing weight, if necessary, to reduce your risk of blood clots.
Patients with severe kidney or liver disease, who are bleeding, or who are taking blood clotting medicines should not take this medicine. This may increase the risk of experiencing an adverse reaction. You will also have an increased risk of bleeding. Talk to your doctor if you have nosebleeds or bruising
You should not breastfeed while taking this medication, unlike other anticoagulants. You should not take a regular blood test (PT-INR) while taking this medicine.
